LYRICS:

Verse One:
Just an ordinary kid, in teenage years
And discouraged to follow his dreams and ambitions
As he stood at her door with burning fears
She opened her heart and she saw something in him
And he will never forget the smile she gave.

Chorus:
Farewell Dear Nightingale
With your voice sweet as the shining day
The final call, spread your wings and fly away
Through heavens eternal gate
He found himself in you
For you never once led him astray
And in your eyes he grew
Dearest Nightingale you’ll stay
Right here in our hearts

Verse Two:
His mind was like an empty universe
That she filled with stars then inspirations surround him
Then every possibility he could immerse
What she could see him him never showed in reflections
And he would never forget who believed in him

Chorus

Bridge:
Oh, and in the final tick of time
And the softest touch of a wing
You embraced the world then said goodbye
And we’ll remember the way you always were

Outro:
And now his soul has a voice
A forever freedom that he yearned
From every wisdom word, you will always be in hearts
Here in hearts
(You will always be, and here you’ll always stay)
Farewell Dear Nightingale.

Who was Claire Poole to Daniel Tambasco and what inspired him to write ‘Nightingale’ ?

Daniel Tambasco met Claire Poole at the age of 14 years old, while still grieving over the death of his Father, this made Daniel yearn for something that he forever had in his heart, and that was to learn how to sing.
Discovered by Paul Flanagan (The Flanagans) at a high school performance, he was then introduced by Paul to Claire Poole as a voice teacher and coach.
As a nervous kid who (like many adolescent kids) didn’t have any belief for a little while, Claire Poole was convinced that there was a contained voice, aching to be heard.
While the voice was quite weak and blanketed by adolescent anxieties, Claire stuck by her word that one day the voice will be free.
As a couple of years went on, both discovered that there was a classical (almost operatic) sound which came naturally, by then, Claire would inspire him to step into the world of musical theatre and classical repertoire and guided his way into the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Music was food for the soul, it helped in speech, courage, confidence and brought back a world of colour.
Through Claire Poole’s guidance and never-ending belief, Daniel believes that this is what turned him from an empty ordinary kid into what he is today.

In 2016/2017 while Daniel continued to work as a professional musician, he was made aware that Claire Poole was ailing, there wasn’t much time left.
But the reoccurring question which stopped his final chance to see her was
“What if she doesn’t want me to see her in her state?”
On the 23rd of December 2017, Claire Poole passed away peacefully.
Through remorse of not taking that final chance to say goodbye and thank you for helping him grow, he wrote ‘Nightingale’.
